Taher Ali is a prosperous entrepreneur and philanthropist, well known in the Manufacturing & Distribution Energy industry in the UAE, India and China, for over a decade. A first class graduate in Mechanical Engineering from Nagpur University, Taher Ali began his career from one of India’s leading Multinationals – Voltas Ltd. as a graduate recruit. With barely any investment fund, but faith in his knowledge and skills, he followed his passion to take the entrepreneurial route and launched his own electrical panel-building workshop in Mumbai.
Taher Ali successfully went on to develop humidifiers and other related products. When the opportunity came in 2000, he took on a project to design one of the first state-of-the-art pharmaceutical factories in Dubai, which still receives a lot of praise from the authorities. After this, he went on to refine his expertise in the energy sector, and started the manufacturing of Power and Distribution Transformers. Soon after, he rose to fame in this industry by manufacturing the highest rated power transformer (230kV/63MVA) in the entire Middle East in 2010.
As time went on, he diversified in the power distribution sector in the UAE, by starting an MEP contracting division which successfully completed many prestigious projects such as the Weatherford Factory, Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium, Dubai International Airport Energy Conservation projects with Siemens and Philips, to name a few. He crossed borders for further opportunities, and launched a manufacturing factory of silicone composite insulators for electricity distribution lines in China, where the clientele hails from all 7 continents of the world. A one-man army with a very humble beginning, but armed with the intellect of an engineer and an entrepreneur, he scaled new heights in his self-started ventures. He is also an ardent advocate of climate change and energy conservation projects. Not only is he a well-known personality in the energy sector, but he is also regarded as an icon back in his village in India. Realizing the importance of education and equal opportunity at a young age, he has been instrumental in building the right infrastructure that provides for younger generations and their families. Back in his village, he has built schools, community centers and his own charity funds that help families in their food, education and medical pursuits.
