George Mohanani, Chairman of the Cordinal Group of Companies, left India in 1978 to travel to Hong Kong to work with an international trading company. Soon after, he started the Cordinal Group, an international indenting business in the coastal city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 1982. Today the Cordinal Group has diversified in several segments including garments and textiles, food & beverage, real estate and financial investments.
George Mohanani, Chairman of the Cordinal Group of Companies, started his career in 1978 when, as a fresh Economics graduate of the University of Mumbai, he moved to Hong Kong to work with an international trading company. There he traveled extensively across South East Asia & the Middle East, brokering deals for ready-made garments, shoes and accessories. After quickly learning the tricks of the trade, he set up his own international indenting agency in the coastal city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 1982.
Learning to adapt to different and unfamiliar territories was not something new to this self-starter and innovator. His office grew quickly, and today is amongst the leading Indentors in the Middle East market, representing quality suppliers globally, with offices in the KSA & UAE. Over the years, the Cordinal Group has expanded and diversified in several business segments including: Food & Beverage, Real Estate and Financial Investments.
Despite his busy schedule overseeing the business, George is a heartful philanthropist, dedicating his time and resources in helping the underprivileged. “Growing up in India during tough times, I understand what it is like to be faced with so many limitations and the difficulty in developing the motivation and willpower you need to succeed.” Today, George is on the board of trustees for the Shelter Foundation, a unique housing project based in India, that seeks to provide shelter to low-income communities and empower children with education so they can uplift their families’ standard of living.
Besides his humanitarian interests, George is an extrovert who is passionate about music, traveling and keeping life balanced. He’s also a health enthusiast and a gifted singer, and when you don’t find him working hard at his desk, he’s sure to be either running on his treadmill, signing with his Karaoke buddies, or spending quality time with family and friends.
