Ashok Puri is a Kenyan national of Indian origin. He was born on June 30th, 1955 in New Delhi. He earned his degree from the University of Delhi in Business and International Affairs, then did his ACCA from London. Today, he is a Fellow of the British Institute of Management and also the Chairman of MGT group.

Married to Manju Puri, he has an only child, a son, Neev Puri, who is currently doing Financial & Business management.
In 1975, Ashok joined the well known Mehta Group in Kenya and worked with them till 1981. He was instrumental in setting up the South Nianza Sugar in Awendo in Kenya in 1979. Before that, he jump-started his career, working with the World Bank in Kenya with a special focus on Finance, Logistics and Projects.
He set up The MGT Group in the eighties in Dubai, UAE, fast-tracking it into a multi-purpose entity. His reputation as an entrepreneur was swiftly established in his peer group and the business flourished. Mr. Puri came to be known as the man who did everything ‘hands-on’ from construction, to power generation projects. He personally went to hazardous areas and war zones to set up his services, as well as spear-headed his teams on-ground. This trait has earned him great loyalty and dependable support staff, which has been the trademark for MGT in delivering on its promise and constantly pursuing excellence. Amidst other strengths, today MGT’s USP is the reputation that MGT enjoys with The US Defense in performing ace services for them in and around The Middle East and The African Subcontinent.
MGT has a portfolio that is varied and yet cohesive under one umbrella. Construction, joinery, logistics support, shipping, oil and gas supplies, safety, security and surveillance, and pharmaceuticals are some of its main areas of functioning. MGT also works in close consonance with the UN on turnkey missions.
